The Accidentals are a female-fronted indie folk-punk band, combining Americana lyrics, pop melodies, and punk energy, led by multi-instrumentalists Katie Larson and Sav Buist. Pop Matters calls them “one of the best live performances you might see in a lifetime” and NPR says they are “some of the most compelling songwriters of our time.” The journey of The Accidentals commenced in a high school classroom in Traverse City, Michigan, where violinist Savannah Buist and cellist Katie Larson became musical soulmates. As high school ended, the band, with drummer Michael Dause, began nonstop touring. Following the 2016 release of the Parking Lot EP, Huffington Post touted The Accidentals among its “Sweet 16 of 2016.” Billboard called them “the band to watch.” During the pandemic, songs written over Zoom with legendary songwriters including Tom Paxton, Kim Richey, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Gretchen Peters, Dar Williams, Maia Sharp, Mary Gauthier, and Jaimee Harris became the TIME OUT EPs (2021 and 2022). Their fourth album, Vessel, was released in 2021. The Accidental’s newest album is Cover Art (2023). In 2023, Detroit native Katelynn Corll became the drummer for band.
“The Accidentals are gonna flip your wig; violins, cellos, guitars, drums; it’s outrageous…”
