Vance Gilbert

Among the quintessential musical poets.

Vance Gilbert is known for his improvisational rapport with audiences during his shows. He speaks, like he sings, with sincerity and depth. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Vance started out hoping to be a jazz singer, and then discovered his affinity for the storytelling sensibilities of acoustic folk music. Gilbert’s compositions, while frequently employing sophisticated melodies and harmonies that attest to his jazz roots, remain sublime attestations to the storyteller’s craft. The Fort Worth Star said Vance Gilbert has “…the voice of an angel, the wit of a devil, and the guitar playing of a god.”

“Gilbert took the stage, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, a whimsical sense of humor, and an astonishingly smooth, pure tenor voice. But that proved to be more than enough.”
