About Six String Concerts
So what's Six String Concerts all about?

With support from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Jennifer Deafenbaugh from The Itty-Bitty Studio has helped us tell our story in this short promotional video. It's the product of a class she conceived and taught, and which will become the template for teaching middle and high school students how to produce video.

Many, many thanks to Jennifer, her Sound/Production Assistants/Students Leslie Robinson & Chanika Svetvilas, Videographers Matt Swift & Nicolette Swift, and Gaffer/Lighting Instructor Matt Meindl. And of course, the Greater Columbus Arts Council.

Launch Video
Six String Concerts, Inc. was founded in 1988 by a group of friends who loved acoustic music and wanted to see the best performing songwriters here in Central Ohio. Frustrated by the lack of national acoustic acts playing in the area at the time, we decided to produce concerts ourselves.

Six String Concerts continues to present top national and regional acoustic musicians in a series of 8-10 concerts held between September and May. The concerts are held in intimate, smoke and alcohol-free environments that allow the performers and audiences an unhindered musical experience.
Booking
Six String Concerts is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. We promote 8 - 10 concerts each season between September and May. Our concerts are presented on Friday and Saturday evenings. We stay true to our mission of featuring emerging and established national and regional singer-songwriters who are making a living writing and performing their own original music, with an acoustic instrument(s). We love to introduce artists who are new to the Columbus community.

Although we love all kinds of music, we do not book artists outside of these guidelines, including pure instrumentalists, full electric bands, music too far from the contemporary folk genre or musicians who primarily perform cover versions of other artists' songs. Artist must have a strong body of original work with enough material to fill a 90-minute set and a strong online presence complete with live performances.

We are fortunate to have so many artists interested in performing for our series. Artists are screened carefully by our Booking committee on voice quality, instrumental talent, songwriting and lyrics, musical style, stage presence, and strong touring schedule.

Each year, we begin booking our upcoming season in early spring after the Folk Alliance International conference in February. We conclude booking each year by early summer.
If you fit our guidelines and would like to be considered for a spot in our next season, please send a press kit and cd to:
